Equity market ends the day in consolidation

May 27, 2019 (MLN): Following a bullish session last week, the local equity market ended the first day of the week on a negative note by landing in consolidation. After losing 6 points, the index closed today’s trading session at 35,697 points, marking a negative growth of 0.25% from previous session’s closing.

On the sector front Fertilizers, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies and Tobacco endured most of the pressure as the combined losses from these sectors amounted to 124 points. The scrips of FFC (-3.5%), PAKT (-3.51%), PPL (-1.23%) and POL (-1.54%) suffered the maximum losses.

The market witnessed a trading activity with a volume of 94.5 million, having a value of PKR 4.58 billion.

Throughout the day, the index touched an intraday high of 35,892 points and intraday low of 35,610 points. Moreover, the share prices of 53 companies reported an increase, 37 companies reported a decrease whereas, the share price of 1 company remained unchanged.

The broader KSE All Share index ended the session on a corresponding note, as it slipped around 74 points and closed at 25,933 points. It traded nearly 125 million shares, having a value of Rs. 5 billion.
