ECC okays to procure 5 MMT wheat

April 29, 2023 (MLN): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet greenlighted the procurement of 5 metric tonnes (MMT) of wheat. Of which 1.4 MMT will be procured by the Sindh government, 3.500 MMT by the Punjab government, and 0.100 MMT by the Balochistan government for the wheat crop 2022-23, said a press release issued by Finance Division yesterday. 

The committee also approved a cash credit limit (CCL) of Rs4 billion for Sindh, Rs220bn for Punjab, and Rs6.2bn for Balochistan for the procurement of wheat with the procurement price of per 40kg has been fixed at Rs4,000, Rs3,900, and Rs3,900, respectively.

The summary was tabled by the Ministry of National Food Security & Research regarding the fixation of Wheat procurement targets for the provinces of Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan for Wheat Crop 2022-23 along with CCL. 

The meeting was presided over by the federal minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar.
