DAP offtake shows massive growth of 75% in April

May 21, 2020 (MLN): The overall DAP offtake during the month of April was 151 thousand tonnes, which depicts an increase of 74.9 percent over April, 2019.

According to the monthly offtake data reported by National Fertilizer Development Center, the offtake of DAP increased by 87, 100, and 17 percent in Punjab, Sindh, and KP while DAP offtake decreased by 58 percent in Balochistan.

Furthermore, the total availability of DAP during April, 2020 was 567 thousand tonnes which comprised 500 thousand tonnes of opening inventory, 41 thousand tonnes of domestic production, and 26 thousand tonnes of imported supplies. DAP offtake was 151 thousand tonnes. The closing balance for April, 2020 was 417 thousand tonnes.

Outlook

As regards DAP, Kharif 2020 started with an opening balance of 500 thousand tonnes. Domestic production during the season is estimated to be 391 thousand tonnes and imported supplies of 188 thousand tonnes. Thus the total availability of DAP will be around 1079 thousand tonnes. The estimated demand for DAP during Kharif, 2020 is around 956 thousand tonnes. There will be a buffer stock of 124 thousand tonnes of DAP at the end of Kharif 2020.
