Cotton Arrivals shrink by 7.5 percent YoY

December 3, 2018 (MLN): Arrival of cotton at various ginneries in Pakistan, has fallen short of last year’s quantity by 765 thousand bales, marking a year-on-year decrease of 7.55%. As of December 1, 2018, the total arrival has been recorded at 9.4 million bales, according to recent figures issued by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA).

Of these, 3.9 million bales reached the ginneries in Sindh whereas 5.5 million bales arrived in the province of Punjab.

In line with the trend, arrival in both the provinces has fallen short of last year’s, as Sindh recorded 2.7% decrease while Punjab recorded nearly 11% decline.

The fortnightly flow of cotton has been recorded at 695 thousand bales, by the end of November.

Around 7.3 million bales of cotton were sold to the textile sector while exporters bought 93.6 thousand bales, by the month end.
