Cotton arrivals fall by 37% as on January 1

January 03, 2023 (MLN): Cotton arrivals at the ginneries have dropped by 37% as the crop’s output has fallen to 4.6 million bales as of January 3, 2023, due delay in draining floodwater from fields compared to 7.3mn bales during the same period last year, the latest data by Pakistan cotton ginner’s association showed.

Both provinces, Sindh and Punjab recorded a significant decline in cotton production by 47% and 38% as their output stood at 1.85 and 2.76mn bales, respectively.

Going into details made available by the association, textile mills bought 3.9mn bales while exporters purchased 4,900 bales and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) did not make any purchase during the review period.
