Coal price drop of $5 cuts cement cost by Rs10/Bag

March 06, 2025 (MLN): A decrease of $5 per ton in coal prices results in a reduction of Rs10 per bag in cement production costs.

This decline in coal prices is expected to primarily benefit cement companies in the South region, including Lucky Cement (LUCK), D.G. Khan Cement (DGKC), Power Cement (POWER), and Attock Cement Pakistan Limited (ACPL), according to Arif Habib Limited.

Richards Bay coal prices have fallen to $89.25, down by $18.60 or 17.25%, nearing their lowest level since March 2021, when they stood at $87.20.

The contract's trading range over the past 6 months has been between a low of $90 and a high of $89.25.

Richard Bay Coal Monthly is a futures contract that is based on the price of coal loaded at the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in South Africa.
