CM Sindh allocates Rs600mn for development schemes in Malir

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday announced to allocate Rs600 million for different development schemes for Malir district of Karachi.

The chief minister presiding over a meeting of elected representatives of Malir district, including MNA Hakeem Baloch, MPAs Sajid Jokhio and Murtaza Baloch, said that he would arrange more funds if the proposed schemes of water supply, road network and bridges are completed on time.

CM Sindh reiterated that he has allocated sufficient funds for Malir and envisaged a number of development schemes on which work would commence shortly. “Now the onus is on the elected representatives to give ownership to the works being carried out are to be started soon,” he said.

He said that he has visited different villages of Malir district a number of times, and has therefore given special attention to the government hospitals to improve their health services.

Giving the example of hospitals in Memon Goth, he said that doctors and nurses were reluctant to turn up on their duties and is now working smoothly after it has been given on public private partnership.

The elected representatives of Malir apprised the chief minister that various villages of Malir need to be electrified and provide gas facilities.

CM Sindh said he would talk to K-Electric authorities to expedite village electrification in Malir. “In the first phase the village electrification in the pipeline would be completed and the new recommended villages would be taken up later,” he said.

He also said that he will sign a new village gasification agreement with Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to provide gas facilities to a number of villages in Malir.

CM Sindh assured that the villages of Malir would also be provided water supply schemes through the water board. “I know there are a large number of villages which have no water, it is on my priority to provide them with water,” he said.

He directed Chairman District Council Karachi Salman Murad and DMC Malir Jan Mohammad Baloch, who attended the meeting to keep their respective areas neat and clean.

“The government is providing you enough funds, therefore the public funds must be utilized in the interest of the people of the area,” he said.

CM Sindh said that he has personally witnessed the road infrastructure of Malir district and would reconstruct dilapidated roads.
