Chicken prices soar highest among all farm products

November 6, 2018 (MLN): The price of chicken in Pakistan has soared substantially, by over 35% over the month of September 2018, and by 28% on year on year basis.

Inflation data recorded and reported by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), shows that among all farm products, including meat and dairy, the price of chicken has recorded the highest leap on both fronts, yearly and monthly.

Meat prices on the other hand have risen marginally in comparison, on month on month basis. However, as compared to October 2017, meat prices have increased by 11.7%.

Fresh milk, which holds 6.7% weightage in the Food group of CPI basket, has also reported over 3.5% increase, YoY.

Meanwhile, not left much far behind, egg prices have recorded the second highest month on month growth within the lot, as they grew by 14% over the month
