Central Government Debt increases by Rs.1,461 Billion in Q1 FY20

November 7, 2019 (MLN):  The total debt of the Pakistan government increased by Rs.1,461 billion in the first quarter of FY20.

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) the total central government debt stood at Rs.33.247 trillion at period end September 2019.

Total domestic debt stood at Rs.22.649 trillion out of which Rs.16.121 trillion was long term while Rs.6.528 trillion was short term.

External debt stood at Rs.10.598 trillion out of which Rs.10.352 trillion was long term while Rs.245.6 billion was short term.

However, long term external debt declined by Rs.496.6 billion in the first three months of FY20 as the local currency appreciated by Rs.6.75 against the dollar.
