CCPA proposes an increase of 1.7397/KWH under fuel price adjustment for October 2019

December 19, 2019 (MLN): Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has proposed an increase of Rs 1.7397/KWH over the reference fuel charges of Rs 3.7579/KWH under fuel price adjustment for the month of October 2019 for Ex-WAPDA Discos.

In this regard, the NEPRA will conduct public hearing on the CCPA petition which is scheduled to hold on December 26, 2019.

As per the petition, submitted by CPPA with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), total energy generated in October 2019 was 9,572.06 Gwh at a total price of Rs48.01 billion which is Rs5.01 per unit. Of this, about 9296.6 Gwh were sold to the Discos at Rs51.1 billion with a transmission loss of 258.94 Gwh.

The share of hydel power generation in October was 25.48% percent. The share of Re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) 25.41 percent and the per unit cost was Rs 9.88 per unit.

Residual Fuel Oil (RFO)-based electricity generation was 0.2 percent in October with per unit cost of Rs 13.44 per KWH. The total cost of RFO based electricity was Rs 259 million.

The total generation from local gas-based electricity was 1164.94 GWh accounting for 12.17 percent of total generation and its cost of electricity was Rs 7.22 per unit. Coal based generation was 24.62 percent. The total generation cost of coal electricity was Rs 13.79 billion.

Nuclear energy contributed about 9.23 percent electricity to the national grid at fuel cost of Rs 1.01 per unit.  Baggasse based electricity contributed 0.06 percent at cost of Rs 3.3 per unit.

The electricity imported from Iran was 0.45 percent at the price of Rs 11.57 per unit. Wind contributed 1.6 percent electricity at zero fuel cost while 0.64 percent contribution came from solar energy at no cost.
