Caretaker setup maps path to billions in revenue with digital economy: IT Minister

February 12, 2024 (MLN): The caretaker setup has provided a road map for the promotion of a digital economy for the incoming government, and if all current initiatives are maintained, billions of dollars in revenue can be obtained, Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker IT Minister stated during the function of IT Association (PASHA).

During the event, the IT Minister congratulated all the newly elected members of the National and Provincial Assemblies in the general elections.

Highlighting the role of the IT & Telecom sector, he emphasized the necessity of providing blackout facilities to ensure economic stability in Pakistan.

He further stated that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) will continue to provide support through timely decisions in important areas.

According to Umar Saif, the IT and Telecom sector has emerged as the backbone of Pakistan's economy with a record increase of 32% witnessed in IT exports in the last 60 days, driven by crucial initiatives.

Chairman Pasha Zohaib Khan paid tribute to Dr. Umar Saif for his excellent services for the IT sector.

“Dr. Umar Saif's initiatives have restored the confidence of the IT sector and recorded a record increase in exports,” the chairman added.
