Car sales expand by over a quarter in October 2018

November 12, 2018 (MLN): Sales of passenger cars (21.3 thousand units) have gone up by over 25% in October 2018, as compared to the sales made in prior month (16.96 thousand units). Meanwhile, production during the period (22.5 thousand units) has increased by 19.7%.

According to official data released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), of these figures, cars belonging to the 1300CC and above category, have accounted for the maximum production (10.5 thousand units) and sales (10.6 thousand units) during the month.

Meanwhile the smallest number of sales and production were made in the 800 – 1000 CC category.

On a year on year basis, the total sales of passenger cars have jumped by 10%, while total sales during the four months of FY19 have gone up by 3.6%, as compared to the first four months of previous year.

On the other hand, sales for trucks and buses have dropped by over 11%, while production for the same have increased by 3%.

Motorcycles and three wheelers have recorded a drop of 3% in sales over the prior month, while production has dropped as well.
