Azerbaijan president arrives in Pakistan, several MoUs expected to be signed

July 11, 2024 (MLN): President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in Pakistan on Thursday on a two-day official visit from July 11-12, during which several agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, as APP reported.

During the visit, the president will hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari.

The two sides will engage in wide-ranging discussions on areas of mutual interest to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Earlier, Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik said that Azerbaijan was considering an investment of $2 to $3 billion in Pakistan.

He said that Azerbaijan was particularly interested in the mineral sector, including oil and gas.

The minister said that Azerbaijan was focusing on the oil and gas exploration sector, noting their keen interest in expanding investments in the LNG sector as well.

He further mentioned that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan was very much expected to boost trade relations.

Discussions will include increasing textile exports and promoting the IT sector between the two countries, he said.
