March 13, 2023 (MLN): Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has officially assumed charge as the Minister for Law and Justice at the Law Ministry, as stated in a press release issued yesterday.

He was warmly welcomed by all high officials within the ministry as he embarked on his new role. Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar reiterated his unwavering commitment to serving the nation and improving the law and justice system in Pakistan.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice for all, and promoting transparency and accountability within the legal framework.

He further added that the Prime Minister has taken notice of delays in the dispensation of justice in criminal and civil matters.

Reforms are needed across criminal, civil fiscal, and constitutional domains to streamline legal processes and to ensure swift and speedy justice.

Prime Minister has also constituted an 8-member legal reforms committee which will be chaired by Senator Azam Nazir Tarar.

As he begins his tenure, the Law Minister looks forward to working collectively that enhance access to justice, protect human rights, and strengthen the foundations of democracy in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to note that Azam Nazir has already served as the Federal Minister of Law and Justice from 19 April 2022 to 9 August 2023 and he resigned from the post on 24 October 2022.

He is a member of the Senate of Pakistan elected from Punjab in March 2021.

He served as Leader of the House in the Senate from 20 April to 30 September 2022. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council.
