Another trading session ends in bears’ court

March 11, 2019 (MLN):  After wavering on borderline through most of today’s trading session, the capital markets eventually ended the fifth consecutive day in red zone, while KSE – 100 index lost merely 26 points from last session’s closing and ended the day at 38,924 points.

Although Commercial Banks and Cement companies jointly contributed 45 points to the benchmark index, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies and Fertilizer Companies successfully redirected the index from these gains and led them southwards.

Maximum index points were lost on the scrips of OGDC whose share price fell by 0.83%, and ENGRO whose share price fell by 0.75%.

All in all, over 50.3 million shares were traded of 93 companies listed within the index, at Rs.2.8 billion. Of these 93 companies, 51 companies recorded a decline in their share price by day end.

Meanwhile, the broader KSE All Share index lost only 11 points today and closed the day at 28,508 points, down by only 0.04% from yesterday’s trade.

In total, 67.7 million shares were traded within this index, at Rs.3.3 billion.
