Al Haj Group Steel & Xinjiang Steel Group to construct Steel Mill in Swabi, KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has agreed to allot 17 acres of land at Gadoon Industrial Estate in Swabi, for the construction of direct hot roll steel rebar industry. The company is a collaboration between a local company and Chinese conglomerate.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development Authority Chief Executive Saeed Ahmed said that the project costing Rs. 5 billion would have the capacity to produce 500,000 tonnes of steel annually and would create 2,500 new jobs for locals, reported private news channel.

An agreement was signed with a Chinese company for the project.

He said Al-Haj Asia Star Steel Company (Al Haj Group) had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Xinjiang Steel Group during the ‘Road Show’ in China in April last year to establish a direct hot roll steel rebar industry in the province.

China First Metallurgical Group, the company executing the project, is expected to complete the project by October 2018.
