Saleem Zia takes charge as Chairman State Life Insurance Board

November 3, 2025 (MLN): The Federal Government has appointed former Senator Saleem Zia, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), as the Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
Mr. Zia, who represented Punjab in the Senate from March 2015 to March 2021, has been appointed in place of Mr. Suleman Mehdi.
Alongside him, Mr. Khaqan Murtaza and Mr. Shehryar Iftikhar Khan have been appointed as Independent Directors on the Board.
The appointments were made under Section 47 of the Life Insurance Nationalization Order (LINO), 1972, and Section 15 of the State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) Act, 2023, read with Para 24(k) of the State-Owned Enterprises (Ownership & Management) Policy, 2023.
The Ministry of Commerce has directed the Company Secretary of SLIC to complete all codal formalities in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations.
