October 27, 2025 (MLN): The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has launched a groundbreaking AI-powered legal and compliance support platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Pakistan, in collaboration with PakLawAssist,  the country’s first AI-based legal automation platform.

SMEDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Socrat Aman Rana, while commenting on the initiative, said the project aligns with the SME development vision of the Prime Minister and is being implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP).

He said that SMEDA is striving to enhance the ease of doing business for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the partnership with PakLawAssist marks a major milestone in that mission.

“This collaboration will empower SMEs with instant, affordable, and reliable legal tools, enabling them to operate more efficiently,” the CEO stated, as reported by APP.

For the first time in Pakistan, SMEs will now have access to round-the-clock legal and compliance guidance through an AI-driven chatbot, offering immediate assistance on various business-related legal matters.

Rana further added that the platform provides a dedicated workspace where SMEs can instantly draft essential legal documents such as non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), employment contracts, and other business forms using AI tools  eliminating manual drafting barriers and saving valuable time and resources.

The initiative has been hailed by business circles as a revolutionary step that will bridge a long-standing gap in Pakistan’s business ecosystem, fostering greater compliance and efficiency among SMEs nationwide.
