SECP introduces Life Insurance Policy Finder Service

December 08, 2025 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), in collaboration with the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited (CDC) and the Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP), has introduced the Life Insurance Policy Finder Service.

This initiative is designed to facilitate the general public in locating life insurance policies of deceased loved ones, said a press release issued today. 

The service addresses a long-standing challenge faced by families who remain unaware of life insurance policies held by their deceased relatives.

This lack of awareness often results in legitimate claims and benefits remaining unclaimed for years.

Through this initiative, the SECP aims to strengthen consumer protection, promote transparency, and provide structured and secure access to insurance benefits for rightful heirs and beneficiaries.

To ensure uniform participation, the SECP has issued a circular for the implementation of the Life Insurance Policy Finder Service, mandating the involvement of all life insurance companies and family takaful operators.

The circular requires participating insurers to promptly respond to public queries routed through the system within the agreed turnaround time (TAT) and to continue submitting required policy data.

The Life Insurance Policy Finder Service will be available to the public starting December 15 2025.

To use this service, individuals need to send the CNIC number of the deceased person via SMS to 99833.

If a life insurance policy is found against the provided CNIC, the relevant insurance company or family takaful operator will contact the beneficiary to guide them through the verification and claims process.
