KP stresses stronger climate resilience, environmental protection

June 11, 2026 (MLN): Focus was placed on strengthening environmental protection and improving climate resilience during a briefing at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where officials presented the agency’s performance, reforms, achievements and future plans.

Officials shared updates on key initiatives, including online monitoring of industrial emissions, digitalization of environmental approvals, GIS mapping of industrial units and efforts to promote environmental awareness.

The importance of enforcing environmental laws and controlling pollution was emphasized, along with the need to ensure a clean and healthy environment for citizens, according to APP.

Directions were given to further improve monitoring systems, expand public awareness campaigns and promote the use of environment-friendly technologies in the industrial sector.

Support was also expressed for addressing institutional challenges, including staff shortages, establishment of district-level offices and provision of modern equipment.

Secretary Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife Junaid Khan and other senior officials were present during the briefing.
