SECP, NTC join forces to bolster Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework

October 07, 2025 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing information sharing and cooperation to strengthen cybersecurity frameworks and initiatives.
The signing ceremony, held at the NTC Headquarters in
Islamabad, was attended by Managing Director NTC Maj Gen (R) Ali Farhan, SECP
Commissioner Mujtaba Ahmed Lodhi, and senior officials from both organizations.
Under the MoU, SECP and NTC will collaborate on key areas
including emerging cybersecurity threats, mitigation strategies, technical
knowledge exchange, and best practices to enhance cyber resilience.
The partnership also covers digitalization initiatives,
capacity building for threat detection and response, and compliance with
international standards such as ISO 27001.
The agreement outlines joint efforts in cybersecurity
research, innovation, and the establishment of Sectoral Computer Emergency
Response Teams (CERTs) in line with national cybersecurity policies.
Speaking at the ceremony, NTC Managing Director Maj Gen (R)
Ali Farhan emphasized the importance of inter organizational collaboration in
safeguarding national digital infrastructure.
He noted that partnerships like this are vital for
optimizing service delivery and protecting critical data.
SECP Commissioner Mujtaba Ahmad Lodhi commended NTC’s role
in advancing a secure digital ecosystem and highlighted the importance of
collective efforts and awareness campaigns in strengthening national
cybersecurity.
Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to
continuous engagement and cooperation to promote a secure and resilient digital
environment in Pakistan.
