Railway land encroachments to face joint crackdown

August 26, 2025 (MLN): Security measures of Pakistan Railways came under review at the Railway Headquarters during a special session chaired by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The Interior Minister was briefed on steps taken to secure railway lines and trains nationwide, with particular focus on Balochistan.

It was decided to launch a joint crackdown against encroachments on railway land, where the Federal Constabulary will assist the Railway Police in the operation.

The meeting also approved the operation of a train between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Mohsin Naqvi assured that every possible measure would be implemented to ensure foolproof security of railway tracks and trains, adding that passenger safety is the government’s top priority.

He also praised the initiatives introduced under Hanif Abbasi’s leadership to improve the performance of Railways.

Hanif Abbasi expressed gratitude to the Interior Minister for extending the cooperation of the Federal Constabulary in eliminating encroachments.

The session was attended by Pakistan Railways CEO Aamir Ali Baloch, Inspector General of Railway Police Rai Tahir and other senior officials.
