Qatar delegation expresses interest in investing in Pakistan

August 24, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties by expanding trade, investment and cooperation across key sectors, including tourism, agriculture and energy.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and a high-level Qatari delegation led
by Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, prominent businessman and senior member of
the Royal Family of Qatar, in Islamabad, according to media reports.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the longstanding ties
between the two countries, describing their relationship as rooted in shared
history, culture, faith and mutually beneficial economic links.
He called for greater economic engagement between Pakistan
and Qatar and invited Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in
Pakistan, particularly in tourism, agriculture, energy and other areas of
mutual interest.
The Chairman also highlighted Pakistan’s role in supporting
peace and dialogue at regional and international levels.
He briefed the delegation on his initiative for the
Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, held under the theme “Peace, Security
and Development,” and appreciated Qatar’s participation in the forum.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani further emphasized the importance of
the Makkah Accord in promoting unity, peace and stability among Muslim
countries.
Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani appreciated Pakistan’s efforts
to promote peace, dialogue, development and regional cooperation. He also
expressed hope that the Makkah Accord would contribute to greater stability,
security and unity across the Muslim world.
The Qatari delegation showed keen interest in exploring
investment opportunities in Pakistan and stressed the need to further expand
bilateral cooperation through trade and investment.
Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani also highlighted the
importance of facilitating the Pakistani diaspora residing in Qatar.
Advisor to Chairman Senate and Ambassador of ISC Ms. Misbah
Khar also attended the meeting.
