Pakistan to launch first national esports policy to boost gaming industry

October 22, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan is set to introduce its first national esports policy and establish a dedicated federation to support the country’s rapidly expanding gaming sector.

The initiative aims to provide a structured framework for esports players, developers, and innovators in a community estimated to include around 60 million Pakistanis.

This was highlighted by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, said a press release issued.

He said the move reflects the government’s commitment to empowering young people through emerging digital industries.

Esports a multibillion-dollar global industry involves organized, competitive video gaming where individuals or teams vie for prizes, sponsorships, and international recognition.

Khan emphasized that the government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is taking “concrete steps to create opportunities for youth,” adding that esports will play a central role in Pakistan’s digital growth and innovation strategy.

Pakistan’s growing international presence in competitive gaming titles such as Tekken and PUBG Mobile has already laid the foundation for this initiative, showcasing the country’s potential in global esports arenas.
