Pakistan to align spectrum roadmap

September 09, 2025 (MLN): The government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Pakistan’s digital transformation through an effective spectrum policy

This was highlighted during a meeting of the Spectrum Advisory Committee held today at the Finance Division under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Mr. Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific, GSMA, senior officials from relevant ministries and regulators, and representatives of leading mobile operators.

Participants from the telecom industry and GSMA shared perspectives on the role of spectrum in driving IT and telecom sector growth, boosting exports, creating jobs, and accelerating digital adoption across Pakistan.

Senator Aurangzeb welcomed the industry’s insights and GSMA’s input, emphasizing the importance of aligning with global best practices for Pakistan’s spectrum roadmap.

He underlined the need for timely progress on the spectrum process to capture emerging opportunities for the economy and society.

Ministers Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Azam Nazeer Tarar reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring inclusive, affordable, and high-quality connectivity to build a digitally connected Pakistan.
