Pakistan imports from China clocks in near $1.7bn

October 20, 2025 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during September, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 32% to $1.66 billion, as compared to $1.26 billion recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $439.81m from the country as compared to the imports of $567.74m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a deline of 22.5%.

Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $330.48m from the country. This figure was down by 9.9% from the imports of $366.85m in the same period last year.

Indonesia was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $278.29m, depicting an increase of 32.1% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from the Qatar stood at $233.55m, marking a drop of 11.7% YoY, while imports from Singapore increased by 16.2% YoY to $204.29m.

Moreover, the imports from Oman stood at $150.06m, up by 54.2% YoY.

On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 10.4% MoM. Similarly, imports from U. A. E. Dubai dropped by 18.1% MoM.

Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted an increase of 48.5% MoM.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, in 3MFY26, China remained the top source of imports, recording $4.86bn as against the total imports worth $3.89bn in 3MFY25.

Whereas, total imports from U. A. E. Dubai in 3MFY26 stood at $1.59bn, registering an increase of 5.8%.

Cumulatively, Saudi Arabia ranked as the third-largest contributor to Pakistan's imports, accounting for imports valued at $884.01m in 3MFY26, compared to the imports worth $1.07bn in the same period last year
