October 01, 2025 (MLN): Federal Minister for Communications emphasized the importance of enhanced regional connectivity through direct flights, expanded trade corridors, and improved land routes to boost economic cooperation among regional states at the “New Silk Way Forum.”

Addressing the Roundtable Conference of Transport Ministers from 12 countries, the minister stressed that regional integration is essential for economic growth and mutual prosperity.

He urged participating nations to facilitate travel for business communities and citizens, enabling them to explore investment opportunities and achieve mutual benefits.

Pakistan decleared it will host the Regional Transport Ministers’ Conference in Islamabad on October 23–24, extending invitations to all Member States.

The minister highlighted that expanding land connectivity is inevitable for increasing trade volumes and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to play a constructive role in regional development.

Referring to recent high-level exchanges with Kazakhstan, he said such engagements have been productive and forums like the Silk Way offer opportunities to strengthen mutual understanding.

He stressed that Central Asian states provide Pakistan a gateway to Europe, requiring robust transport and communication linkages.

On the sidelines, the minister held a bilateral meeting with Turkish Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloglu, where both sides discussed cooperation in road and transport infrastructure.

Pakistan invited Türkiye to actively participate in the upcoming Islamabad conference and encouraged Turkish companies to invest in joint ventures.

The Turkish minister expressed strong interest in expanding partnerships and reaffirmed goodwill toward Pakistan.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and regional corridors, recognizing Türkiye’s role in boosting transport initiatives.

The minister concluded that stronger Pakistan–Türkiye collaboration would pave the way for new avenues of trade, connectivity, and regional development.
