June 25, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Uzbekistan have taken a significant step toward converting their strong diplomatic relationship into practical economic collaboration, particularly in the areas of housing and urban development.

This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting in Islamabad between Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, and Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

The two officials explored various avenues for joint efforts in communal development, urban sustainability, and housing sector reforms, according to the press release issued.

Minister Pirzada acknowledged Uzbekistan's dynamic economic growth and emphasized the value of bilateral cooperation to meet Pakistan’s growing housing demands and challenges related to water scarcity.

Highlighting the need for innovative and eco-friendly development approaches, the Minister welcomed the idea of learning from Uzbekistan’s experience in urban planning.

In response, Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed Uzbekistan’s willingness to offer technical support and training programs.

Areas of proposed collaboration include housing development, green and smart housing solutions, water recycling, and social infrastructure.

Additionally, the Ambassador offered Uzbekistan’s expertise in policy-making, public procurement, and legal frameworks related to construction.

He proposed a knowledge exchange platform focused on institutional reform and modern construction trends, aiming to contribute to Pakistan’s evolving construction landscape.

The meeting marked a step forward in fostering a practical and strategic partnership between the two nations, centered on sustainable urban growth and shared development goals.
