October 09, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations across defence, economic, and trade sectors through high-level diplomatic engagements in Islamabad.
The developments signal a new era of strategic
partnership between the two brotherly nations.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed
confidence that the recently signed Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with
Saudi Arabia will significantly enhance strategic, economic, trade and defence
cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting
with a Saudi Shura Council delegation led by Chairman Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed
bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh in Islamabad today.
PM Shehbaz welcomed the distinguished delegation and
extended his best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Custodian of
the Two Holy Mosques, while praying for his continued good health and
well-being.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz commended the
visionary leadership of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin
Salman, highlighting his transformative development agenda for the Kingdom.
Prime Minister said under Mohammed bin Salman's
leadership, Saudi Arabia has set an example of development in every field,
especially the economic and social sector and empowerment of women.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Chairman
of the Saudi Shura Council, described the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement as
highly significant, calling it a interpretation of the long-standing brotherly
relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The agreement is expected to strengthen defence
cooperation between both nations while enhancing strategic partnerships in the
region.
It will also boost economic and trade relations, creating
new opportunities for bilateral collaboration across multiple sectors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening
parliamentary relations and agreed to promote regular exchanges of
parliamentary delegations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
This initiative aims to deepen institutional ties and
foster greater understanding between the legislative bodies of both countries.
In a separate but equally significant development,
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to further strengthen economic linkages for
the shared prosperity of the two brotherly nations.
The commitment was expressed during a meeting between
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and a high-level Saudi
business delegation led by Chairman Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council
Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar
expressed satisfaction at the growing momentum in bilateral economic relations
and noted the tremendous scope for enhanced Pakistan-Saudi cooperation.
He highlighted Pakistan's conducive investment climate
and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to facilitating Saudi investments
across various sectors.
In his remarks, Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud,
Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, appreciated the progress
of the council, terming it among the most successful business councils
globally.
The statement stresses the robust framework already in
place for facilitating bilateral trade and investment.
The simultaneous focus on defence and economic
cooperation demonstrates the comprehensive nature of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia
relations.
Both countries have maintained close strategic ties for
decades, with cooperation spanning defence, economy, energy, trade and cultural
sectors.
The Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, coupled with
enhanced economic partnerships, represents a significant milestone in this
enduring relationship.
These developments show a shared commitment to regional
stability, economic prosperity and mutual growth in an evolving global
landscape.
The high-level diplomatic engagements signal a renewed
commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across all sectors.
With parliamentary exchanges planned and business
cooperation expanding, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are poised to enter a new
phase of strategic partnership.
The meetings concluded with both sides reaffirming their
dedication to deepening cooperation and working together for the mutual benefit
and prosperity of their peoples.
As regional dynamics continue to evolve, the
Pakistan-Saudi Arabia partnership remains a cornerstone of stability and
cooperation in the region
