January 13, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen their economic and industrial collaboration in the mining and minerals sector, with both countries exploring joint investment opportunities and initiatives across the mineral value chain.

The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2026 in Riyadh, highlighting the growing global focus on mining and critical minerals, APP reported.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, leading Pakistan’s delegation, met with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef to discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation.

The Federal Minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, citing collaboration between the Geological Survey of Pakistan and the Saudi Geological Survey.

He also highlighted the vast mineral potential of the Tethyan Belt, including Reko Diq, and noted opportunities in fertilizer production and medical equipment manufacturing.

Minister Al-Khorayef welcomed Pakistan’s participation at FMF 2026, highlighting the Kingdom’s technical expertise and support, and praised Pakistan’s young and dynamic workforce as a key asset.

The Pakistani delegation includes senior policymakers, state-owned enterprises, private sector representatives, and major mining stakeholders such as PPL, OGDCL, Mari Energies, GHPL, FWO, PMDC, Saindak Metals, and Balochistan-based mineral companies, along with specialized service providers.
