February 16, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited (PSX:PIBTL) reported a net profit of Rs1.51bn for the half year ended December 31, 2025, surging 4.7 times from the Rs319.1m profit recorded in the same period last year.

The company's earnings per share increased to Rs0.84 from Rs0.18 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The revenue from contracts with customers increased 46% YoY to Rs8.19bn from Rs5.59bn, demonstrating robust growth in cargo handling volumes and throughput.

Cost of services rose 31% to Rs5.44bn from Rs4.14bn, resulting in a gross profit of Rs2.74bn, up 89% from Rs1.45bn in the prior period.

The gross profit margin improved significantly to 33.5% from 25.9% in H1 FY2025, indicating enhanced operational efficiency and better pricing power.

The net profit margin stood at 18.4% compared to 5.7% in the same period last year, reflecting the company's dramatic improvement in profitability.

Administrative and general expenses increased 27% to Rs695.4m from Rs546.5m, which reflects the costs associated with expanded operations.

Other income declined sharply by 86% to Rs51.3m from Rs369.5m, as the prior period had benefited from significantly higher non-operating income.

Finance costs decreased 48% to Rs433.8m from Rs834.8m, providing substantial relief as borrowing costs moderated and debt levels declined.

The company recorded an exchange gain of Rs23.5m compared to an exchange loss of Rs7.3m in the prior period, contributing positively to the bottom line.

Profit before revenue taxes and income taxes reached Rs1.69bn, up 2.9 times from Rs429.6m in H1 FY2025, demonstrating exceptional operational performance.

Profit before income taxes stood at Rs1.69bn, representing 3.7 times increase from Rs359.7m.

The company recorded a taxation expense of Rs180.3m, up 3.4 times from Rs40.6m in the corresponding period last year, though the higher tax charge did not materially impact the strong profit growth.

The company's exceptional performance reflects strong demand for port services, significantly improved operational efficiency resulting in higher gross margins, and the substantial benefit of lower finance costs. The 4.7 times surge in profitability demonstrates the company's successful operational scaling and effective cost management in a favorable operating environment.
