February 11, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Cambodia have agreed to deepen collaboration in the industrial sector, with a special focus on the textile industry, aiming to create mutual economic benefits.

The declaration came following a high-level meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan and Cambodia’s Minister for Commerce, Ms. Cham Nimul.

During the discussions, both sides explored avenues to strengthen economic and industrial partnerships, enhance bilateral relations, and promote investment opportunities, as reported by APP.

SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan lauded Cambodia’s economic progress over recent years, noting that Pakistan could draw valuable lessons from Cambodia’s development experience.

He also highlighted the comprehensive initiatives under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, including the National Industrial Policy and National Tariff Policy, aimed at accelerating economic growth and supporting industrial development.

The Cambodian Minister praised Pakistan’s natural beauty, abundant resources, and strong defense capabilities.

Both emphasized cooperation in the textile industry, underlining the potential for value addition to benefit both nations.

Ms. Cham Nimul further highlighted that 166 Pakistani-origin companies are currently operating in Cambodia and expressed interest in establishing a dedicated Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support their activities.

She also proposed the exchange of business-to-business (B2B) delegations to strengthen trade and commercial ties.

Haroon Akhtar Khan also stressed the opportunities for collaboration in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector through Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).

He noted SMEDA’s strong performance and its potential to facilitate partnerships with Cambodia.

He underscored the high quality of Pakistani “Made in Pakistan” products such as olive oil, honey, and leather goods, calling for expanded access to international markets.

Highlighting the role of Pakistani women entrepreneurs working from home in the SME sector, Haroon emphasized the importance of providing them with greater export opportunities.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of commemorative gifts by Haroon Akhtar Khan to the Cambodian Minister, symbolizing goodwill and strengthening friendship between the two countries.
