Pakistan, Bangladesh agree to explore resumption of direct flights

October 29, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation, enhance bilateral trade, and explore the resumption of direct flights to deepen connectivity between the two nations.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Mr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant (State Minister, Ministry of Finance) to the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh, and Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance and Railways, held at the Ministry of Finance in Islamabad.
Both sides held productive discussions centered on expanding collaboration across key sectors including trade, energy, and transportation, and forging long-term partnerships for sustainable development.
Minister Bilal Kayani and Mr. Chowdhury reaffirmed the shared commitment of both governments to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties, emphasizing that closer engagement would bring tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
The Bangladeshi delegation included Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan; Md. Tayub Ali, Counsellor (Press); and Ms. Israt Jahan, Counsellor (Political) & Head of Chancery.
Representing Pakistan was Dr. Hasan Muhammad Mohsin, Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about the revitalization of bilateral relations through continued dialogue, enhanced trade facilitation, and improved connectivity.
