Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to deepen bilateral ties

May 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Azerbaijan are strengthening their bilateral relationship across all spheres, with both sides actively working to enhance mutual legal assistance mechanisms and build capacity within their judicial systems.

The two countries, described as brotherly nations, are deepening cooperation in the legal and judicial fields through existing bilateral frameworks, with the Pakistani prime minister expressing eagerness to meet the Azerbaijani president soon to further advance the partnership, APP reported.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks during a warm and cordial meeting in Islamabad on Thursday with Azerbaijan's Justice Minister Farid Turab Oglu Ahmadov, who called on him at the Prime Minister's Office.

PM Shehbaz conveyed his greetings for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and fondly recalled a telephone conversation with him earlier in the week.

The visiting minister thanked Pakistan for its warmth and hospitality and briefed the prime minister on ongoing bilateral collaboration in legal and judicial affairs.

The Pakistani side was represented by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch.
