Pakistan, Azerbaijan to review bilateral ties during PM’s visit to Baku

November 07, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan and Azerbaijan are to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations and identify new avenues for cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity during the Pakistani prime minister’s two-day official visit to Baku from November 7–8.

At the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the fifth anniversary celebrations of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day, said a press release issued.

The visit will reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy long-standing fraternal relations rooted in shared faith, history, culture, and mutual trust, and continue to cooperate closely in regional and international fora, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and the United Nations (UN).

Prime minister Shehbaz last visited Azerbaijan in May this year, where both leaders pledged to diversify cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors. President Aliyev also called the Pakistani leader in August to express appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
