PSX Closing Bell: Small Steps, Big Range

September 19, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 158,037.37, showing an increase of 83.91 points or 0.05%.

The index traded in a range of 1,815.47 points showing an intraday high of 159,337.46 (+1,384.00) and a low of 157,521.99 (-431.47) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 890.89 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 38 closed up, 61 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were BOP (+9.97%), PTC (+6.81%), PAKT (+5.14%), HUBC (+4.54%), and LOTCHEM (+4.48%).

On the other hand, top losers were YOUW (-5.54%), TPLRF1 (-3.85%), CNERGY (-3.45%), KTML (-2.85%), and SEARL (-2.82%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were HUBC (+275.47pts), OGDC (+112.03pts), BOP (+111.11pts), SYS (+104.73pts), and PSO (+59.56pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-230.08pts), ENGROH (-101.22pts), HBL (-63.04pts), FFC (-43.27pts), and MARI (-39.43pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution (+277.36pts), Technology & Communication (+153.44pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+60.36pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+58.25pts), and Cement (+55.49pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-276.76pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-110.81pts), Fertilizer (-46.13pts), Pharmaceuticals (-27.00pts), and Automobile Assembler (-25.53pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,513.94 with a net gain of 26.82 points or 0.05%.

Total market volume was 2,047.81 million shares compared to 987.59m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs69.27 billion showing an increase of Rs29.36bn.

There were 614,691 trades reported in 485 companies with 188 closing up, 266 closing down, and 31 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 32,410 points or 25.80% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 42,910 points or 37.27% so far this calendar year.
