PSX Closing Bell: Midweek Meltdown

October 08, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 165,266.74, showing a decrease of 907.00 points or 0.55%.

The index traded in a range of 1,837.35 points showing an intraday high of 166,947.19 (+773.45) and a low of 165,109.84 (-1,063.90) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 554.83 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 33 closed up, 67 closed down, while 0 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were SSOM (-6.74%), BOP (-4.13%), PIOC (-3.82%), FCCL (-3.61%), and UBL (-3.30%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PTC (+7.16%), SYS (+6.11%), BAFL (+4.04%), GHNI (+3.82%), and KEL (+3.58%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-383.53pts), FFC (-204.42pts), LUCK (-179.20pts), MARI (-109.98pts), and BOP (-67.18pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were SYS (+301.59pts), BAFL (+105.18pts), MCB (+63.97pts), PSO (+53.68pts), and PTC (+44.36pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-406.04pts), Cement (-298.13pts), Fertilizer (-204.43pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-184.60pts), and Pharmaceuticals (-55.32pts).

While the index was supported by Technology & Communication (+311.94pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+45.68pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+27.09pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (+14.47pts), and Insurance (+4.51pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 52,686.96 with a net loss of 298.45 points or 0.56%.

Total market volume was 1,274.69 million shares compared to 1,266.23m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs61.13 billion showing an increase of Rs6.91bn.

There were 484,239 trades reported in 484 companies with 148 closing up, 297 closing down, and 39 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 39,639 points or 31.55% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 50,140 points or 43.55% so far this calendar year.
