PSX Closing Bell: A Minor Setback

August 13, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 146,529.30, showing a decrease of 476.02 points or 0.32%.

The index traded in a range of 1,474.45 points showing an intraday high of 147,892.25 (+886.93) and a low of 146,417.80 (-587.52) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 298.88 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 40 closed up, 60 closed down.

Top losers during the day were PGLC (-9.88%), HMB (-3.74%), EFERT (-2.71%), INIL (-2.47%), and BNWM (-2.19%).

On the other hand, top gainers were AIRLINK (+10.00%), PKGP (+3.29%), TPLRF1 (+3.14%), NBP (+2.93%), and LUCK (+1.86%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-136.78pts), EFERT (-113.41pts), PPL (-89.00pts), MCB (-80.79pts), and HMB (-69.04pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were LUCK (+103.61pts), HBL (+92.61pts), MEBL (+73.08pts), NBP (+71.20pts), and AIRLINK (+57.31pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-260.19pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-203.77pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-51.48pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-34.75pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-34.58pts).

While the index was supported by Cement (+150.19pts), Commercial Banks (+70.65pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (+19.78pts), Tobacco (+8.73pts), and Cable & Electrical Goods (+6.14pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 90,649.25 with a net loss of 120.81 points or 0.13%.

Total market volume was 647.09 million shares compared to 691.66m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs40.90 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.68bn.

There were 365,001 trades reported in 486 companies with 198 closing up, 240 closing down, and 48 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 20,902 points or 16.64% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 31,402 points or 27.28% so far this calendar year.
