PSX Closing Bell: A Hard Fall from the Highs

December 16, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 170,447.29, showing a decrease of 294.05 points or 0.17%.

The index traded in a range of 1,730.62 points showing an intraday high of 171,922.60 (+1,181.26) and a low of 170,191.98 (-549.36) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 475.39 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 43 closed up, 56 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were DHPL (-9.99%), PIOC (-4.23%), HUMNL (-3.31%), MLCF (-3.05%), and NML (-2.77%).

On the other hand, top gainers were KAPCO (+8.11%), KTML (+7.13%), BOP (+4.86%), AICL (+4.67%), and PIBTL (+3.26%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-180.02pts), SYS (-111.11pts), PPL (-110.10pts), DHPL (-70.11pts), and OGDC (-67.46pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UBL (+251.96pts), BOP (+80.95pts), NBP (+47.05pts), KAPCO (+45.87pts), and KTML (+44.85pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-207.64pts), Fertilizer (-188.69pts), Cement (-154.91pts), Technology & Communication (-113.13pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-55.56pts).

While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+383.12pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+38.45pts), Automobile Assembler (+36.81pts), Insurance (+36.24pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+14.89pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,982.88 with a net loss of 193.32 points or 0.19%.

Total market volume was 1,176.64 million shares compared to 905.68m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs53.47 billion showing an increase of Rs5.75bn.

There were 520,993 trades reported in 482 companies with 161 closing up, 290 closing down, and 31 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 44,820 points or 35.68% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 55,320 points or 48.05% so far this calendar year.
