PKR stays almost flat against USD

December 16, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 0.83 paisa or 0.00% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.30 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.31.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.30 and a low (ask) of 280.30.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 281.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 69.11 paisa or 0.21% against the Euro, closing at 329.48 compared to the previous value of 328.79.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 81.58 paisa or 0.22% to 375.41 compared to 374.59 a day ago.

The local unit fell 3.38 paisa or 0.01% against Swiss franc to close at 351.94.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.36 paisa or 0.20% to close the session at 1.8101 versus 1.8065 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 3.55 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.80 from 39.77.

The local currency weakened by 0.98 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.72. While it weakened by 0.19 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.32.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 3.46 rupees or 1.24%. While it has decreased 1.75 rupees or 0.62% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 35bps to 10.51% and 10.76%.
