September 1, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) charter, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasizing the country’s dedication to regional cooperation and integration.

Speaking at the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in Tianjin, China, he highlighted that the SCO provides a key platform for promoting peace, progress, and economic collaboration across the region.

The Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all SCO members and neighboring countries, stressing respect for international and bilateral treaties.

He noted that uninterrupted access to water as per existing agreements among SCO members is vital for smooth functioning of the organisation and achieving its broader goals.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a practical demonstration of the SCO’s vision for regional connectivity and economic integration.

He reiterated Pakistan’s belief in multilateralism, dialogue, and diplomacy, while seeking stable and normal relations with all neighboring countries.

Addressing security concerns, the Prime Minister condemned terrorism in all its forms, including state terrorism, and presented evidence of foreign involvement in the Jaffar Express hostage incident and other attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He also emphasized the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, expressing confidence in positive outcomes from trilateral meetings involving Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan.

Shehbaz Sharif drew attention to the recent devastating rains and floods in Pakistan, appreciating international support and solidarity, particularly from China.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s economic recovery over the past eighteen months, according to the press release issued.

On the international front, the Prime Minister called for an immediate end to Israeli violence in Gaza.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a UN-mandated two-state solution with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds al Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestine.
