October 23, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has unvieled a major relief initiative titled the “Roshan Maeeshat (Bright Economy) Electricity Package” aimed at accelerating the growth of Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors.

The Prime Minister made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation of industrial experts and representatives of the business and farming communities at the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday.

Under the package, industries and farmers will be provided additional electricity at concessional rates from November 2025 to October 2028.

Prime Minister Shehbaz stated that the price of electricity currently available at Rs34 per unit for industries and Rs38 per unit for the agriculture sector will be significantly reduced, and additional units will be supplied at Rs22.98 per unit throughout the year.

“Neither domestic consumers nor any other sector will bear the cost of this relief,” the Prime Minister assured, emphasizing that the package is structured to support economic growth without transferring the financial burden to other users.

The Prime Minister praised Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for their efforts in formulating the package, calling their contribution “commendable and forward-looking.”

He said the initiative is designed to enhance competitiveness of Pakistan’s industries and agriculture in the regional market, attract investment, and create employment opportunities.

“The development of industry and agriculture is vital for Pakistan’s economic growth and job creation,” the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting the success of last year’s winter electricity relief package, the Prime Minister noted that industries and the agriculture sector had utilized 410 gigawatt-hours of additional electricity, which helped boost exports, accelerate industrial activity, and generate employment.

“The journey from economic crisis to stability has not been easy, but through the dedication of our economic team and the cooperation of the business community, it became possible,” he remarked.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed his government’s commitment to achieving economic self-reliance, noting that better economic policies have already improved key indicators.

“With continued teamwork and determination, I am confident that we will soon achieve the goal of Pakistan’s economic sovereignty,” he said.
