PKR weakens by 20 paisa against USD

June 12, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 20.17 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.67 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.47.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.50 and a low (ask) of 284.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.15 for buying and 284.65 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 3.28 rupees or 1.02% against the Euro, closing at 325.93 compared to the previous value of 322.65.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.78 rupees or 0.47% to 382.83 compared to 381.05 a day ago.

The local unit fell 3.43 rupees or 1.00% against Swiss franc to close at 346.92.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.88 paisa or 0.97% to close the session at 1.9656 versus 1.9468 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 4.64 paisa or 0.12% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.36 from 39.31.

The local currency fell by 4.17 paisa or 0.06% against Saudi Riyal to 75.35. While it depreciated by 5.81 paisa or 0.08% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.97.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 4.33 rupees or 1.53%. While it has decreased 4.12 rupees or 1.46% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 6bps to 10.84% and 11.09%.
