PKR weakens by 2 paisa against USD

July 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 1.71 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.97 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.95.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 288.15 and a low (ask) of 288.6.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 287.70 for buying and 288.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.53 rupees or 0.46% against the Euro, closing at 333.19 compared to the previous value of 331.66.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 90.64 paisa or 0.24% to 383.96 compared to 383.05 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 1.69 rupees or 0.48% against Swiss franc to close at 357.46.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value weakened 0.61 paisa or 0.32% to close the session at 1.9300 versus 1.9239 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 0.21 paisa or 0.01% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.71 from 39.71.

The local currency strengthened by 0.35 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 75.96. While it fell by 0.47 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.59.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 1.21 rupees or 0.42%. While it has weakened 6.42 rupees or 2.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged at 11.01%.
