PKR appreciates by 38 paisa at interbank trade

March 25, 2021 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 38 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 155.01 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 155.39 per USD.

The rupee endured a relatively dull session, trading after opening stronger, with very little intraday movement, trading in a range of 15 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 155.13 and an intraday Low offer of 155.02.

Within the Open Market, PKR was quoted at 155.00/155.80 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency gained 95 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 212.1 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 213.05 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 83 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 182.99 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.769 billion for 8 days at 7.04 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards the close of the session was 7.10/7.20 percent, whereas the 1-week rate was 7.03/7.08 percent.
