PKR strengthens 3 paisa against USD

August 25, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 3.19 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.87 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.9.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283 and a low (ask) of 284.1.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.40 for buying and 284.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 2.98 rupees or 0.91% against the Euro, closing at 329.82 compared to the previous value of 326.84.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 2.75 rupees or 0.73% to 380.68 compared to 377.94 a day ago.

The local unit fell 3.06 rupees or 0.88% against Swiss franc to close at 351.27.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.58 paisa or 0.83% to close the session at 1.9131 versus 1.8973 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 16.11 paisa or 0.41% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.42 from 39.25.

The local currency gained by 0.45 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.13. While it strengthened by 0.76 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.75.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 1.89 rupees or 0.67%. While it has weakened 3.32 rupees or 1.18% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 10.80% and 11.05%.
