PKR strengthens 20 paisa against USD

August 13, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 19.52 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.22 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.42.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.5 and a low (ask) of 284.9.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.90 for buying and 284.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 2.30 rupees or 0.70% against the Euro, closing at 330.45 compared to the previous value of 328.16.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 2.22 rupees or 0.58% to 382.30 compared to 380.08 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 2.62 rupees or 0.75% against Swiss franc to close at 351.29.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.91 paisa or 0.48% to close the session at 1.9134 versus 1.9043 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 4.59 paisa or 0.12% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.33 from 39.28.

The local currency rose by 5.20 paisa or 0.07% against Saudi Riyal to 75.20. While it rose by 5.32 paisa or 0.07% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.84.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 1.54 rupees or 0.55%. While it has fell 3.67 rupees or 1.30% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 10.83% and 11.08%.
