PKR strengthens 1.21 paisa against USD

October 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 1.21 paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.10 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.11.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.30 and a low (ask) of 282.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.15 for buying and 282.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 1.46 rupees or 0.45% against the Euro, closing at 329.10 compared to the previous value of 327.64.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 28.33 paisa or 0.08% to 377.36 compared to 377.65 a day ago.

The local unit fell 3.29 rupees or 0.93% against Swiss franc to close at 356.05.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.81 paisa or 0.97% to close the session at 1.8781 versus 1.8600 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 0.75 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.45 from 39.45.

The local currency appreciated by 0.32 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.95. While it strengthened by 0.22 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.53.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 2.66 rupees or 0.95%. While it has weakened 2.55 rupees or 0.91% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 10.95% and 11.20%.
