PKR rises by 24 paisa against USD

July 28, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 24.17 paisa or 0.09% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 283.21 per USD, compared to previous closing of 283.45.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 284.5 and a low (ask) of 286.3.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 284.00 for buying and 286.55 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 2.15 rupees or 0.65% against the Euro, closing at 330.74 compared to the previous value of 332.89.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.74 rupees or 0.46% to 379.86 compared to 381.60 a day ago.

The local unit gained 1.57 rupees or 0.44% against Swiss franc to close at 354.55.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.87 paisa or 0.45% to close the session at 1.9096 versus 1.9183 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 6.56 paisa or 0.17% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.48 from 39.54.

The local currency strengthened by 6.24 paisa or 0.08% against Saudi Riyal to 75.50. While it increased by 6.79 paisa or 0.09% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.10.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 55.23 paisa or 0.20%. While it has fell 4.66 rupees or 1.65% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 10.59% and 10.84%.
