PKR remains flat against USD

December 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 1.22 paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.21 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.50 and a low (ask) of 281.25.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.40 for buying and 281.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 1.41 rupees or 0.43% against the Euro, closing at 330.12 compared to the previous value of 328.70.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 2.62 rupees or 0.70% to 378.44 compared to 375.82 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 2.44 rupees or 0.69% against Swiss franc to close at 355.12.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.63 paisa or 0.92% to close the session at 1.7962 versus 1.7799 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 5.34 paisa or 0.13% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.87 from 39.82.

The local currency appreciated by 0.12 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.71. While it appreciated by 0.23 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.29.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 3.55 rupees or 1.27%. While it has deteriorated 1.66 rupees or 0.59% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 3bps to 10.41% and 10.66%.
